December 22, 2021—Following the publication of false information about independent journalist Gerald Flynn, the Overseas Press Club of Cambodia (OPCC) affirms that Flynn is a freelance journalist who works in Cambodia for local and international news outlets. He is also a member of the OPCC board.
We condemn the false claims about Flynn, and subsequent online harassment, put forward and spread by anonymous social media accounts and government-aligned media since 18 December 2021.
We stand in solidarity with our colleague, and all professional journalists facing harassment due to the spread of misinformation and disinformation. We stand for a free press in which journalists can work without fear. We stand for the truth above all else.
