The OPCC’s journalist buddy system, which is only offered to our members, is especially geared to freelance journalists reporting in the field without the security benefits that a staff position and local newsroom may offer.
When OPCC members are reporting in the provinces or from a place they deem unsafe or unpredictable, they can request an OPCC board member in Phnom Penh to be a check-in point of contact should an emergency happen while in the field.
We’ll use secure messaging and location-sharing apps, and walk you through some safety best practices before you leave on your reporting trip.
