The Overseas Press Club Cambodia (OPCC) has elected a new board for 2020.
At the annual general meeting on February 4, the 2019 board was thanked for its efforts throughout the year. A new board was then elected, with Ate Hoekstra unanimously voted to take on another term as president.
The new board is:
- President: Ate Hoekstra
- Vice-president: Enric Catala Contreras
- Secretary: Marissa Carruthers
- Treasurer: Pete Ford
Board members: Juliette Buchez, Quinn Libson, Jose Rodriguez and Matt Surrusco.
Life member and long-time OPCC treasurer Luke Hunt was thanked for his years of service after stepping down.
The 2020 board pledged to build on the work of 2019, which saw the OPCC host well-attended events to mark International Women’s Day and International Human Rights Day, social gatherings and help with mentorship programmes for young Cambodian journalists.
This year, the board plans to start a monthly “meet the media” event, host more discussions, and continue to think of innovative ways to engage with the journalism and the wider community.
Membership of the OPCC is open to all foreign journalists and members of the media community in Cambodia. The OPCC asks for a US$15 annual contribution from members.
